Our story

Long before E. Michael existed, I was surrounded by people who believed that details mattered.

My mother could look at a garment, study its construction and create it from scratch. Some of my earliest memories are of watching her at a sewing machine, turning an idea into something tangible through patience, skill and craftsmanship.

One memory has stayed with me ever since.

As a teenager, I showed her a photo of a hoodie I liked. It wasn't a simple design. It featured an angled zip running across the shoulder, something you couldn't simply buy a pattern for. She took my measurements, drafted the pattern herself and built the garment from nothing.

At the time, I didn't fully appreciate what I was witnessing.

It wasn't until friends started asking her to make them one too that I realised how unique it was.

My father came from a different trade but carried many of the same values.

As a fitter and turner, precision wasn't optional. It was expected.

Measure twice. Cut once.

Do it properly the first time.

The details matter.

Growing up around both of them taught me that quality is rarely accidental. It is the result of care, patience and a commitment to getting the small things right.

Looking back now, many of the principles that guide E. Michael today were already being taught to me long before I ever thought about creating a brand.

E. Michael is an extension of those values.
